Damien Hirst and HENI collaborate to existing an exhibition of paintings from Hirst’s initial NFT collection, The Currency, opening at Hirst’s Newport Road Gallery on 23 September – 30 Oct 2022. The Forex was launched in July 2021 as a selection of 10,000 NFTs corresponding with 10,000 first artworks by Damien Hirst. Collectors had been offered a choice to possibly continue to keep the NFT or trade it for the bodily artwork.
Through Frieze 7 days, Hirst will begin the melt away by burning his own artworks. Next this event, the exhibition will continue to be open up, and artworks will keep on to be burned till the display closes on 30 October 2022. Timings of burns will be publicised in advance. The Forex Chronicles, a publication outlining the community experiences of the project’s 1st section, will be launched for the duration of the exhibition.
The physical artworks were being established by hand in 2016 working with enamel paint on handmade paper. Each artwork is numbered, titled, stamped, and signed by the artist on the back again. Extra authenticity capabilities on the artwork paper involve a watermark, a microdot and a hologram that contains a portrait of the artist. On each and every artwork, no color is repeated 2 times. The titles were generated by way of the software of equipment finding out to some of the artist’s favourite music lyrics. Damien Hirst views The Forex as a function of artwork in which persons participate by shopping for, holding, providing, and exchanging the artworks.
